Take-home pay calculator
Estimate net pay from a regular salary in England, Wales or Northern Ireland. The estimate assumes one job, standard employee National Insurance (category A) and the standard Personal Allowance, reduced where applicable.
Estimated take-home pay
- Gross salary
- Income Tax
- Employee National Insurance
- Pension contribution
How the estimate works
Income Tax is estimated across the full tax year. The Personal Allowance falls by £1 for every £2 of adjusted net income above £100,000. Employee National Insurance uses the thresholds for the pay frequency you select. Figures shown for other periods are averages.
With a net pay pension, contributions reduce taxable pay. With salary sacrifice, the estimate also reduces pay used for National Insurance. Use your actual agreed sacrifice. Pension relief at source, Scottish Income Tax, student loans, other income and nonstandard tax codes are outside this estimate.
See HMRC’s 2026/27 payroll rates and GOV.UK Income Tax rates and allowances. For final pay, use the redundancy calculator, the holiday calculator or the guide to tax on holiday and redundancy pay.
